Our guest house is located within a short walk of many Folkestone pleasures. Close by you'll find Kingsnorth Gardens with lovely year-round displays of roses, seasonal blooms, and water features. A five-minute walk will take you into Folkestone town centre where you can enjoy a pub lunch on the the historic Bayle, followed by a stroll down the cobbled Old High Street toward the seafront. In the picturesque Stade and fishing harbour you can browse through the fish stalls and tour a Russian Submarine. For a longer walk in a natural setting the Warren Country Park offers views of wildlife and the famous White Cliffs.

Stroll down the Leas Promenade past lovely Victorian buildings and enjoy the spectacular views across the Channel to France. The children will enjoy the Rotunda Fun Park and the Lower Leas Coastal Park. Further on is Sandgate with its charming antique shops.

Folkestone is an ideal base for exploring Southeast Kent. A short drive away is the ancient Cinque Port of Hythe, where a ride out to Dungeness on the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Miniature Railway is a must. Port Lympne Wild Animal Park is nearby, as well as the historic churches and villages on mysterious Romney Marsh. Also within easy reach are the historic towns of Rye and Canterbury. For those travelling on to the Continent, the Channel Tunnel Rail Terminal is a 10-minute drive, and the Port of Dover with its cross channel ferries is only 15 minutes away.

  • Directions by car from London and the North: Take the M20 to Junction 13 and follow the brown signs to the Leas. At the traffic lights continue straight ahead under the rail bridge, then follow the main road to the roundabout. Kentmere is straight ahead on the lefthand side.
  • Directions by car from the A259 Coastal Road: Continue into Folkestone and follow the signs for the Information Centre. At the first roundabout, go straight ahead. Kentmere is on the lefthand side.
  • Directions by car from the A2/A260: At the large roundabout on entering Folkestone follow the signs for Hythe and Hastings (A259). Go down the hill and turn right at the bottom, then left at the traffic lights, passing the large park on the righthand side. At the roundabout go left under the rail bridge and turn left following the town centre signs. Passing the petrol station on the left, go left at the junction. Kentmere is on the lefthand side.
  • Directions by rail or bus: Folkestone Bus Station is served by Stagecoach East Kent and National Express and is within easy walking distance. Folkestone Central Rail Station with frequent services from London is a 3-minute walk. Kentmere Guest House is located on the main tourist route.
